From the 16th to 18th October ÉCU will be in Aarhus, Denmark to take part in one of its Nordic partner festivals, Aarhus Independent Pixels, a new Nordic short film and photography festival. Located in the centre of Aarhus, it aims to give support and promote young, independent artists up to the age of 30 years old from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland. The festival provides a platform for emerging talent to showcase their work and to establish networks across the Nordic region with professionals and audiences alike. As the festival describes itself it is ‘an artistic playground all about displaying the fact that little money can do big magic’, which is an attitude we can really appreciate at ÉCU!

In fact it looks to be an extremely stimulating and exciting festival, celebrating young, Nordic independent film and photography talents, as well as hosting a number of events, screening, exhibitions, workshops, lectures, artist talks and music. With an estimated 100 film and photography artists there will be a lot to see and talent to look out for. There is the opportunity for 40 burgeoning filmmakers and photographers to be selected for the official AIP 2015 showcase and the chance for some to win a professional 6 month mentor program. So we look forward to the high standard of film and photography at the festival and it is an event not be missed!

As part of ÉCU’s collaboration with the festival a special screening of 8 films from ÉCU 2015’s Official selection, including 4 award winning films will be taking place. These films include:

  • De Smet (dir.Thomas Baerten and Wim Geudens) Winner of Best Independent Comedy at ÉCU 2015
  • Touch (dir. Andrew Richardson) Awarded Special Jury Mention at ÉCU 2015
  • The Anklet (dir. Guillaume Levil) Winner of Best European Independent Dramatic Short at ÉCU 2015

  • Night/ Concrete (dir. Noé Weil)
  • The Bigger Picture (dir. Daisy Jacobs)
