The Romania International Film Festival (Ro-IFF) will be kicking off their 2013 edition this weekend in Bucharest. Following a successful association last year, in which ÉCU’s own Festival Manager, Kadi Lokk, sat on the panel of judges, ÉCU is proud to continue partnership with Ro-IFF again this year.
Since its establishment in 2005, Ro-IFF has been active in integrating the Black Sea region into the international film community. Films produced in Russia, Moldavian Republic, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece and Romania are now being given greater exposure and opportunities in a way that hasn’t been possible before.
Over the years, the festival has been host to a number of outstanding special guests stretching beyond the film with musical performances by Serbian director Emir Kusturica and his band ‘Non Smoking Orchestra’, as well as, Oscar award winning actor Kevin Costner, who performed with his band ‘Modern West’.
This year, Ro-IFF will be screening four of our 2013 award winning films: Kore, Good Night, Girl Shaped Love Drug and Buzkashi Boys.
“It’s exciting for both us, and our filmmakers, to see the winning films of our most recent festival being screened at events such as Ro-IFF. It’s also great to see the indie film community throughout Europe reaching out and supporting each other.” Says ÉCU President Scott Hillier.
