Shaun is a lonely urbanite trapped in an uninspiring job and disconnected from those surrounding him in a metropolis. Yearning for human connection, he frequents the spot where his father died to revisit childhood memories when they practised the art form of puppetry; the metropolitan train stations to try engaging himself with fellow travellers; and makes failed attempts to socialise with his colleagues. To escape from his bleak reality he blends telekinesis with puppetry to bring himself closer to what his father encouraged him to be. The initially innocent experiments with a glass of water and a goldfish soon take the tone of something much more sinister when Shaun’s grip on reality is loosened and his self-conjured counterworld invades with devastating consequences.
