He was born on May 31th, 1930 in San Francisco, California. Before becoming the person he is now, he worked as a logger and truck driver. In 1950, he was called in by the Army Special Services while he met the actors David Janssen and Martin Milner, who convinced him to move to Los Angeles after he finished his military duty. He  played his first important role in an American Western TV series called Rawhide (1959).

In 1964, Eastwood moved to Italy where he starred in a trio of westerns directed by Sergio Leone: A Fistful of Dollars (1964), For a Few Dollars More (1965), The Good the Bad and the Ugly (1966). Nicknamed «spaghetti westerns» due to their Italian production, these films gave a lot of popularity to Eastwood.

clint-eastwood2Back in the US, Eastwood directed his first film, the thriller Play Misty for Me (1971) and starred in the leading role. His next important project was a series of violent action movies Dirty Harry, known for the character of inspector Harry Callahan. In 1992 he won his first Academy Award (best picture) for Unforgiven.

50810In 2005 he won a Golden Globe (best director) for Million Dollar Baby. Afterwards he was acclaimed for Gran Torino (2008), Invictus (2009) and J. Edgar (2011). His last work was American Sniper (2014) which earned an Oscar nomination for Best Picture.
