The very same year she played in a historical movie GIRL WITH A PEARL EARRING, based on the novel of Tracy Chevalier about Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer. Her almost silent but excellent performance in this film manages to steal audience’s attention from the other film characters and makes her a real center character of the film.
In 2005 Scarlett begins the series of her successful collaborations with Woody Allen. Her first role with Mr. Allen, MATCH POINT, brings Scarlett her 4th Golden Globes nomination. Continuing her work with the director she stars in SCOOP and later in 2008 she stars as one of the central characters in Woody Allen’s most commercially successful ever movie VICKY CRISTINA BARCELONA. In his interview for MTV Woody Allen explains the reason why he likes Scarlett so much: “As soon as I met her, I had a very good rapport with her. She’s very charming, very bright, very amusing. She livens the set up. The minute she walks on the set, the amperage goes up 200 points. She’s a great kid and very talented. She can sing. She can do dramatic things and jokes if you need her to. Whenever there’s a part she could play, she would probably always be my first choice.”
Being the Broadway fan ever since her studies at the Professional Children’s School, in 2009 she accepts another challenge and makes her debut on the Broadway stage in the drama A VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE by Arthur Miller. This work again did not go unnoticed and she received many positive reviews by critics and it also got her a Tony Award.
