ÉCU is delighted to bring you several films that are celebrating their European Premieres with us..

Documentary “Out of the Darkness” (Dir. Stefano Levi)
Most of the world’s blind people live in remote, impoverished areas and the majority of doctors able to cure them work in cities. Dr. Sanduk Ruit from Nepal, and his American partner, Dr. Geoff Tabin, have made perfecting a portable low cost surgery to restore sight their life‘s work. They trek to Nepal’s remote Northeast, carrying an entire hospital on porters‘ backs. Their mission is to bring the needlessly blind out of the darkness.
Music Video “Colder” (Dir. Ilaria D’Elia)
“Colder” follows the last minutes in the life of a young man trapped underwater, it’s a claustrophobic, yet uplifting, experience which leaves the viewer in wonderment and discomfort.
European Short “Hollow” (Dir. Rob Sorrenti)
“Hollow” is a sensitive observation about the nature of addiction. Exploring the idea that love isn’t always enough when it comes to getting clean and the inevitable sacrifice that comes with sobriety.
European Short “Habibti” (Réal. Nour Wazzi)
Habibti follows Iman, a conservative Arab woman who travels to London to visit her estranged daughter Amira and is shocked to find her living with her boyfriend… a black artist named Marlon. Their conflict brings humour and with it an unlikely bond, and soon we discover Iman’s reasons for visiting are more than they seem.
Student Film “Bubbles” (Réal. Dalia Schlesinger )
On a sultry Tel Aviv night, Shira is waiting for her husband to return from a business trip. The tiring monotony of her every day life is about to change and she is facing a crucial turning point in her life.
