We kicked off the new year with a very busy month ! We celebrated the arrival of the delicious galette de rois cake with one (or a few) at the office and officially closed our film submissions entries for ÉCU 2017.

First, we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who submitted their work for this year’s festival. We are very much looking forward to watching your films and announcing the official selection for ÉCU 2017 soon!

Aside from enjoying the many wonderful and creative films submitted to this year’s festival, January was a very action-packed month for a few of our festival partners.

Hong Kong Independent Film Festival (HKIFF), Asia’s oldest international film festival and Hong Kong’s largest cultural event, closed its submission entries on January 20th. Now we are counting down the days until the festival from April 11th-25th which will feature 250 films from more than 55 countries around the world. Find out more information about this year’s 41st festival here.

Another one of our festival partners, Vault Film Festival, kicked off the second edition of its festival this month on January 25th. Located in London’s subterranean Vaults Gallery, this year’s festival features an eclectic lineup of documentaries, comedies, dramas, art films, and sci-fi thrillers. In case you missed out on the opening of this exciting event, not to worry, the event will carry on until March 5th. Check out the complete list of film screenings here.

Over here at the ÉCU office we closed off January in a big, big way ! Last week we said goodbye to our old office at République and moved to the bustling Bastille neighborhood of Paris. With a new, light filled workspace, incredible partner events taking place across the globe, and many indie film submissions to watch, February promises to be nothing short of exciting!
