With the festival literally just around the corner the frenetic pace in the ÉCU office feels like surfing on a 30 metre, fast-breaking wave. Exhilarating, invigorating, and yep, a little bit scary :)

For the last seven years, ÉCU has been screening the very best independent films from not only Europe, but around the world. That’s a tradition that we will be continuing on the 30th of March through the 1st of April at the Cinemas 7 Parnassiens and Action Christine cinemas in the centre of Paris. We will be screening 101 films from 33 countries with 9 world premieres and 5 European. I congratulate the filmmakers in the competition and look forward to seeing the sparkle in the audience’s eyes as they watch your hearts and souls fill the big screen.

As many people are aware – we are not just a weekend event. We have over 50 partner festivals around from the world. We work in conjunction with them not only to find our audiences great films to screen here in Paris, but also to help us share and travel our award-winning films all over the planet. We screen these films to new and different audiences from Bulgaria to Bangladesh, from Portugual to Norway, from the UK to China.

We had a successful launch party at the Scopitone nightclub on 13th of March. That evening, we unveiled our ÉCU 2012 Official Selection, listened to some great music by the Italian band, Holidays and French songwriter / singer, TIWAYO, and even had a few glasses of wine. Several filmmakers, who are competing in the Official Selection, were on-hand to talk about their films and were interviewed by my social media material hungry staff. You will be able see the fruits of their labour over the next few days :)

My amazing staff, (to whom I offer a BIG, BIG thank you!), are working hard to make ÉCU 2012 a great festival and I have total belief that they will succeed.

We are ready – are you??
