Lately, many fresh faces can be found around ÉCU’s headquarters. Coming from all over the world, our newest interns are all film-loving, creative individuals. Read through some brief Q&A’s with the latest editions to our staff so you can get to know who’s behind the preparation of ÉCU 2017:

Meet: Nina, 22, Paris

Q: What are your roles at ÉCU?
A: Editing film and social media/marketing!
Q: To what are you most looking forward during your time spent interning at ÉCU?
A: Getting to know how a film festival works from A to Z.
Q: Why are you in Paris?
A: University. I’m a student of film studies at Paris 8.
Q: Favorite thing to do in Paris?
A: I love to go to the cinema and watch two (or more) films in a row! The cinema is the only place that offers that kind of entertainment.
Q: Favorite section of the city?
A: The 18th, where I live.
Q: Favorite genre of film?
A: I love all genres, but I’d say I enjoy “weird” films the most. One of my favorites is Arizona Dream by Emir Kusturica.

Meet: Dany, 20, Egypt/Lebanon

Q: What are your roles at ÉCU?
A: Editing, social media/marketing
Q: To what are you most looking forward during your time spent interning at ÉCU?
A: I’m looking forward to having my first taste of what this industry is all about. I’ve wanted to do this my whole life.
Q: Why are you in Paris?
A: I’m studying marketing at ISEG Marketing School.
Q: Favorite thing to do in Paris?
A: To go out and socialize at night.
Q: Favorite section of the city?
A: Le Marais – it’s beautiful.
Q: Favorite genre of film?
A: I guess thriller/drama, but I ultimately just love films that make you think for a while after they’re over, such as Inception or Interstellar.

 Meet: Bella, 22, London Area

Q: What are your roles at ÉCU?
A: Managing submissions, social media/marketing
Q: To what are you most looking forward during your time spent interning at ÉCU?
A: Learning something new!
Q: Why are you in Paris?
A: I’m taking an Erasmus year and to learn French.
Q: Favorite thing to do in Paris?
A: I love to gaze out my window at the city view as if I’m a chic Parisian girl.
Q: Favorite section of the city?
A: Montmartre, the 18th
Q: Favorite genre of film?
A: Thriller

Meet: Felix, 30, London

felixQ: What are your roles at ÉCU?
A: As of right now, my role is to research background for possible screenplay.
Q: To what are you most looking forward during your time spent interning at ÉCU?
A: I’m most looking forward to the festival, itself.
Q: Why are you in Paris?
A: I fancied a change of scenery – a break from where I was living in the UK.
Q: Favorite thing to do in Paris?
A: I love to walk along the Seine. It’s a very well organized river.
Q: Favorite section of the city?
A: The 5th. It’s full of stuff – food, people.
Q: Favorite genre of film?
A: Comedy

Meet: Elisa, 20, Nantes

Q: What is/are your role(s) at ÉCU?
A: Marketing, partner relations
Q: To what are you most looking forward during your time spent interning at ÉCU?
A: I’m looking forward to being a part of a team, working in the world of independent cinema, being a small part of a big project, improving my English, and discovering the different aspects of the preparation of the festival. I think this is an amazing opportunity for the public to get more involved with the world of cinema, and I’m looking forward to being a part of that.
Q: Why are you in Paris?
A: Just for ÉCU, actually! Sadly, I will only be here for one month before returning to Nantes to finish my formation in tourism. [Editor’s note: We will miss you, Elisa!]
Q: Favorite thing to do in Paris?
A: I love visiting museums, walking through the city and sightseeing, and soaking in the amazing atmosphere of Paris!
Q: Favorite section of the city?
A: Le Marais or Montmartre
Q: Favorite genre of film?
A: I know it’s quite boring for some, but I really, really enjoy historical films!

Meet: Andi, 20, Florida

andiQ: What are your roles at ÉCU?
A: Writer, social media/marketing
Q: To what are you most looking forward during your time spent interning at ÉCU?
A: I’m most looking forward to working amongst a team of intelligent, creative people who are working together to create the best film festival in the world! I’m excited to see how all the little pieces come together in the end.
Q: Why are you in Paris?
A: I’m taking a gap year from Florida State University (go ‘Noles) to work as an au pair to gain cultural experience and to learn French.
Q: Favorite thing to do in Paris?
A: I love sitting street-side at a cafe to people-watch with my friends.
Q: Favorite section of the city?
A: Le Marais or the 10th.
Q: Favorite genre of film?
A: Drama or Action
