For the second year in a row, ÉCU is honored to be partnered with NURT Documentary Film Festival! NURT, located in Kielce, Poland, is the largest film event devoted to Polish documentaries. After 18 years, the festival’s reputation continues to grow.
The festival is not lacking in historical documentaries. In fact, one of last year’s most popular films was “Poczatek” by director Krzysztof Jaszyński. The film recounts the reconstruction following the German occupation of Warsaw during WWII and even features never before seen photos.
In addition to such historical screenings, one can find a satisfying range of films documenting contemporary topics. Previously screened in this category was Oscar-winner “Twin Towers”, which featured ÉCU President, Scott Hillier, as the director of photography.
At this year’s edition, NURT will be screening “Moving Gracefully Towards the Exit”, winner of The Best European Independent Documentary at ÉCU 2013. The documentary follows the couple Michel Gouilloud and Patrice M. Regnier through their struggles when it is discovered that Michel suffers from neurlogical ailment, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
