Cold and cloudy October is the perfect month for watching films. That is what we’re doing at the ÉCU office with all the new submissions rolling in and we want to watch your film as well! Submit it now as there’s only four weeks left for the first submission deadline.
But do we just lay around and watch films all day? Of course not! The office is filled with creative writers and editors coming up with new ideas. Here is an update on some of the things we have been up to this month.
Our weekly Spotlights this month have named cool, independent women from the film industry. We highlighted the interesting, independent career of Anne Hathaway and spotlighted three young up-and-coming directors: Mia Hansen-Løve, Sarah Polley and Athina Rachel Tsangari. Hopefully their stories inspired you in the pursuit of your own film career.
Also ÉCU-on-the-Road is continuing its world wide screenings. We screened four films at RoIFF – Romania International Film Festival, who’s been our partner the last two years. But we are not stopping there. October is all about preparing for our ÉCU screenings in Barcelona – 24 films from 12 different countries. Come and join us for three, exciting days filled with indie films and workshops.
Are you lucky to be in Paris this month? Come check out our article where we recommend cultural events for October. If on the other hand you feel more like staying in, there are new indie films on EuroIFC that you can watch for free.
This month we’ve welcomed new interns from all over the world. But you can still apply for an internship, there is always room for more ideas and initiatives at our creative office – so join us in making ÉCU 2014 our best festival so far. (link)ecu
