Documentary Festival NURT is organised by Cultural Center in Kielce, Poland. This year they are celebrating the 18th edition, and Scott Hillier will be present as a special guest. The Artistic Director of the Festival is Krzysztof Miklaszewski, filmmaker, writer and theatre director. The Festival gathers films produced in a certain year in Poland. It is destined at both professional film makers and debutants. Each year there are about 150 documentary films sent to be judged within the Festival by professional JURY consisting of popular Polish filmmakers, journalists and film experts.
The films which are qualified to the final are divided in thematic block which are screened in Cultural Center in Kielce in the hall with the capacity of 700 spectators. After the film screening there is a discussion with authors of the films and everybody is allowed to ask any question concerning the history included in the film. Apart from the film there are many events planned such as meetings with popular actors, filmmakers, theatre spectacles, concerts and film workshops. Such formula of the Festival makes is special and very homely.
NURT Festival is attended by all generations ranging from young people to adults who willingly join the film screenings and come to watch documentaries about subjects which concern their daily life.
This year’s edition of the Festival is inspired by creativity of Bruno Schulz in the 120th anniversary of his birth and 70th anniversary of his death.
During the Festival, film lovers will have a chance to watch 39 films selected to the final.
This year NURT has the honor to host a special guest – Scott Hillier, Festival President of ÉCU – The European Independent Film Festival in Paris, who will show his film “Twin Towers” for which he received an Oscar in 2007.
