The autumn has arrived and turned Paris into a beautiful cascade of red and brown. At ÉCU we feel inspired!
But we haven’t just been sitting in the park looking at the leaves fall, once again we are happy to present new projects to you. As you may have noticed we started a new series of interviews with award winning filmmakers of ÉCU 2013. The first video is up now with Simon Powell, director of ‘Girl Shaped Love Drug’, winner of Best European Independent Dramatic Feature. Check out his stories about what inspired his film and about his experience at ÉCU 2013.
With our ÉCU-on-the-Road tour we have taken our films to different corners of the world. In September we’ve been to Tvori Gora in Russia, Naperville Independent Film Festival in USA and Doura Film Festival in Portugal.
As always, there are the spotlight articles and in September we decided to focus on 4 amazing male filmmakers. You can read about Manoel de Oliveira, the 104 year old Portuguese film director, the oldest filmmaker in action; Sylvain Chomet, one of the world’s most acclaimed animators; Gianfranco Rosi, documentary filmmaker and winner of Venice Film Festival 2013 and French-Afghan Atiq Rahim, writer and filmmaker, forced to leave his home country after the Soviet invasion and is now living in France.
The sweater weather invites to indoor coziness, so why not to pour a warm cup of tea and tune in at EuroIFC – The European Independent Film Channel, a channel for a great indie film cavalcade for free! New films from past ÉCU editions are going up each week. The channel is also open to other filmmakers, so go check out EuroIFC website (link) and send in your best indie films.
The autumn inspiration will keep on flowing from ÉCU, so follow us on Instagram, Facebook, Google Plus and Twitter for updates you don’t want to miss.
So did the summer also leave you in good spirit with high ambitions for your creative career? ÉCU might just be the starting point for you. Want to get behind the scenes of the film industry and discover great movies and filmmakers – then join our team as an intern (link)
