SpanishStudent Film: Open to all (European and Non-European) student films. The film can be in any language, but subtitles in either English or French are required to ensure the best judging. NOTE: Entrants in this category will ONLY be eligible for the Best Student Film Award.
Much More than a Script Competition short and feature-length: (European and Non-European) As part of the ÉCU 2012 film festival, the script competition’s focus is on independent screenplays, that is, scripts that aren’t aimed at mainstream Hollywood film markets.
Writers are invited to submit their short and feature-length scripts to the competition where they compete for the best script of the festival. Scenes from the winning feature-length script are given a dramatic live reading at the film festival, which will take place in Paris in April 2012. The winners from both categories will also receive a script coverage package courtesy of ScriptShark.
ÉCU Firsts
ÉCU is giving first-time filmmaker an opportunity to show your film for free in Paris. If you enter your first ever short film into the ÉCU FIRSTS category, ÉCU will waive the submission fee and will guarantee a screening of your film in Paris in our special ÉCU FIRSTS screening area. All you have to do is to be at the festival to reserve your screening time and have an audience of at least 10 people. Please be aware that the ÉCU FIRSTS category has NO AWARD and the films in this category are not considered a part of ÉCU`s Offical Selection. The film can be in any language, but subtitles in either English or French are highly recommended
IMPORTANT: If your film is chosen to be screened at ÉCU we will need the following in order to compile the festival‘s catalogue:
ESSENTIAL CHECKLIST: Before sending your film make sure you have:
1.DVD clearly labeled with:
• Name of film/Director/Run Time/Aspect ratio
2. Non English films need to be subtitled in English
3. Two digital screen shots of film (high resolution if possible)
4. One digital photo of director
5. Synopsis in English and in French if possible
6. Official trailer (if possible)
