Paris Marathon and Colour Run
Athletes and sports enthusiasts, pack your sneakers! The Paris International Marathon takes place the 9th of April. The runners wil have 42.195 kilometers to cover through the city, starting from the Arc of Triomphe, heading towards the Place de la Concorde, and then to the Bastille Square, ending near the Foch Avenue. Even if a gruelling 4 hour run is not at the top of your agenda, the atmosphere alone makes it worth cheering on the participants! On the 16th of April is the famous colour run! Starting at Hôtel de Ville, runners have to reach Trocadéro, and be ready to get colourful! At each kilometer you cross, coloured powder will be thrown at you. By the finish line, you should be covered head to toe in a variety of colours (edible powder of course)!
Jardins Tuileries/Jardins du Luxembourg/Champs de Mars
Lounging in the gardens during springtime in Paris is a must! Grab your picnic baskets, head to the local grocery store, and stock up on some wine, cheese, and baguettes. The soft, green grassy lawns will have you surrounded by the magical architecture of Paris’s buildings and landmarks, and the gardens offer the most exquisite form of outdoor lounging. Bring your lover, bring your friends, or go solo! The various lawns will be packed on sunny days so get to these parks in the morning to get a good spot!
A nice museum to visit during this time of year is Musée Rodin, a fantastic art museum in the former studio and showroom of sculptor and painter Auguste Rodin. Musée du Quai Branly and the Musée Marmottan-Monet, both have lovely gardens perfect for the springtime. The Louvre is a must see, with the beautiful Tuileries gardens right next door.
Seine River Cruise
April is the perfect time for a cruise along the Seine river. Sightseeing along the river also gives visitors a visually stunning and unique way to view the city. Take a bateau mouche to see the history behind Paris and enjoy the relaxing vibe the boat tours have to offer. So many of the city’s best landmarks can be seen from the boat and when the weather is nice, there is nothing better than to be on the water!
