December has arrived in Paris — the time for thick socks, warm wine, and close friends. But this doesn’t mean you have to stay bundled at home all month! Paris has a bevy of activities to keep you enchanted and excited until the new year.

Christmas Markets

There are several fantastic Christmas markets around Paris — from Sacré Cœur to La Défense, there’s a winter wonderland for everyone! Christmas markets are the perfect way to explore festive holiday treats, all while gift-shopping for your friends and family (and maybe a bit for yourself as well).

Christmas Window Displays

What would Christmas in Paris be without large department stores’ dazzling displays? This month, ‘tis the season to gaze at the layouts all placed in the windows with care. And it doesn’t hurt to stroll around inside once you’re there!

Women House

Until the 28th of January, La Monnaie de Paris has a display on the domestic space as a domain for women — where they are ‘meant to be.’ The exhibit includes works from 39 female artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, and their unique perspectives on the subject. The works will be moving to Washington D.C. next, so get your tickets while you can!

Meteorites: Between Sky and Earth

Looking for something out of this world? Look no further than Paris’ Natural History Museum! Until the 10th of June, meteorites are on display, from far and wide, across the galaxy. More than 350 pieces of the museum’s collection are on display, as well as rare pieces from across the world. At the end of the exhibit, everyone can touch a piece of the Moon! George Méliès would be elated.

Jeune Femme (w/ English Subs) presented by Lost In Frenchlation

Love French film, but a bit perdu when it comes to français? Then join Lost in Frenchlation on December 8 from 19h-23h at Club de l’Étoile to watch the award-winning Jeune Femme (2017, dir. Léonor Serraille) with English subtitles! The screening will be preceded by snacks and cocktails — a perfect time to meet fellow cinephiles in the city!

The Nutcracker

From the 29th to the 31st of December at Le Palais des congrès de Paris, The Ballet and Orchestra of the National Opera of Russia will be in Paris on the cusp of the new year to perform the classic Christmas tale, set to Tchaikovsky’s immortal music. If you’re longing to round out your 2017 with something classical and magical, this is a show not-to-miss!
