With the festival feeling like a distant memory, its time for ÉCU’s next adventure as we set off for our annual appointment with the Cannes Film Festival where we will be launching our ‘call for submissions’ for ÉCU 2018.

Kicking off our Cannes tour, we will be at the T3: Talent, Tools and Trends Conference on Monday 22nd May at Eden Hotel & Spa. Festival President, Scott Hillier, has been invited to join the panel and talk alongside other industry experts: Robin Bronk, Maxim Jargo, Kate Elfatah and Gotham Chandna.

Whether you are a first-time director, a seasoned professional or simply a film buff, this is not an occasion to be missed. Discussing a wide variety of topics, from the creative freedom of indie cinemas to the business of filmmaking, this panel of industry experts will provide an insight into the future of the filmmaking industry. As an added bonus, 2 short films will be screened following the panel- Nakaw and Small Town. Click here to register your attendance, and follow the discussion at #T3Cannes.

Throughout the week, ÉCU will be at the Creative Europe MEDIA pavilion which hosts some 200 selected European film and audiovisual professionals. We are honoured to have been selected this year on behalf of EACEA, the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency of the European Commission and we look forward welcoming you to our stand in the pavilion. Drop us an email for a chance to meet and chat with the ECU team.

All this being said, the main reason we venture down to Cannes each year is to meet and mingle with indie filmmakers from all corners of the world. We are constantly looking for the hottest new talent on the independent filmmaking scene to invite them to submit to ÉCU 2018. Our mantra is that we screen the world’s best indie films- and the search for these cinematic gems starts at Cannes Film Festival. Make sure you stayed tuned to our social media platforms and website for information on how to submit.
