ÉCU at Arkadia ShortFest
ÉCU’s partner festival Arkadia ShortFest is young but already well-established international short film festival, taking place in Băicoi City, Prahova County, Romania.
The first edition of Arkadia ShortFest took place in July 2014. The festival screened twenty-eight short films, hosted a workshop dedicated to film and organised an exhibition of old photographs and artwork of five plastic artists.
During the 2nd edition of the festival, taking place between July 3rd and 5th 2015, ÉCU is putting together a special one-hour screening event of some of the best short films from our 2015 festival:
THE DANDELION (by Sophie-Clémentine Dubois – Belgium)

MEND AND MAKE DO (by Bexie Bush – UK)
You are invited to sit in Lyn’s comfortable room and listen to her love story during the war while watching how all the objects around are beginning to move in an attempt to illustrate with humour and hope her telling.
TOUCH (by Andrew Richardson – UK)
By the using of the physical communication, the movie relates the story of a young couple –from its inception and up to the point where their ideas, expectations and fears increase and get birth to misunderstanding and suffering.
CATCHING FIREFLIES (by Lee Whittaker – USA)
A little girl, of Latino origin, attempts to escape from the constraints and troubles of the life she has in an ill-famed suburb of Los Angeles, by using the mystical power of her imagination. In the same time she is trying to secure the relation she has with her vicious mother.
DE SMET (by Thomas Baertenși & Wim Geudens – Belgium/Netherlands)
The brothers “De Smet” have created their own regime allowing them to live their lives in a very cozy manner, bereft of any complications. But when a young woman is moving on their street everything starts to change…
The audience is invited to actively participate in the development of this festival, having as main objective the promotion of short films and arts in general.
