After our last stop off in Morocco we are now heading to York in England to attend our partner festival The BAFTA Qualifying Aesthetica Short Film Festival (ASFF) which takes place from 5th- 8th November. The festival is celebrating its 5th anniversary and looks to be the biggest and most exciting year yet with 300 short films from around the world, screening at 15 unique and iconic venues across the historic city of York. There will be the opportunity to explore a range of genres from drama, comedy, documentary to artists’ film and more.
Accompanying this immense programme, will be a whole host of industry events, such as the “Meet the Film Festivals” event which ÉCU Film Festival will very happily be taking part in, special screenings and workshops offering filmmakers, fans and film world professionals the opportunity to connect, share best practice and experience new cinema in a unique setting. For those wishing to learn more about the filmmaking there will also be the chance to take part in over 20 masterclasses with leading organisations in the industry, such as Channel 4, Association of Camera Operators (Star Wars, Gravity and James Bond) and Oscar and BAFTA Award Winning VFX giant Framestore (Guardians of the Galaxy and Jupiter Ascending).
Guest programmes from China, Brazil and Cuba, as well as a French language screening chosen from this year’s Official Selection will also make up the bill. In celebration of ASFF’s 5th anniversary, there is a chance to see winning films from the past four years, plus a new Videotheque enables industry to seek out new films and practitioners to establish future collaborations.
We cant wait for this one. So make sure to save the date and come celebrate independent cinema with us and Aesthetica Short Film Festival 2015 in York!
