As the month of August is about to start, most Parisians leave the city to go on vacations. But Paris is far from making us want to go away during the summer. Here are some reasons why:
Cinema is on the agenda – as always!
Outdoor projection of films is popular during the summer in Paris. We already told you about the emblematic Villette outdoor film festival, which will still be on in august, but here are some more possibilities:
“La chaise et l’écran” is an outdoor film festival organized by the 11th district. Movies selected by the filmmaker and writer Gérard Mordillat will be projected. Spectators are asked to bring their own chairs. In August, two projections are planned on August 1st and 29th.
Wanderlust organizes until the 1st September the “Summer Comedy Club”. A comedy will be projected every Monday – to be enjoyed with a cocktail at the bar!
The “cinema au Clair de lune”, organized by the Forum des Images, will take place from July 31st until August 10th. A very eclectic programing of movies will be projected in emblematic places of Paris such as the “Butte Montmartre” or the “Esplanade des Invalids”
From August 29th to September 6th, the second edition of the “Silhouette” festival will feature short films at the park “de la Butte du Chapeau Rouge”. A jury will evaluate and give awards in nine different categories. The projections are preceded by concerts. Workshops, indoor projections, invited artists and associations are also on the program of the festivities!
“Kino” is an international movement, present in more than 60 cities all over the World that gathers filmmakers in order to make movies in an imparted time. On August 9th, they will be at the “recyclerie”, helping you to create your film. A film topic, roles and dialogues will be attributed to you so that you can make your film under the surveillance of a “tyrannical but benevolent” director… All this in one day only! Jazz music will be celebrated with the Roy Hargrove Quintet playing on the 1rst and 2nd august. For the reggae music lovers, two concerts of Midnite are on the agenda on the 22nd and 23rd august. Rock en Seine has now become a major music festival of the French capital. And indeed, August 22nd, 23rd and 24th, Arctic Monkeys, the Prodigy, Portishead, Queen of the Stone Age, Die Antwoord, Emilie Simon, la Roux and many more are playing at the Domaine national de Saint Cloud. Don’t miss it!
Summer transforms Paris in a relaxed place
At “la Belleviloise”, the “grrrrrande prairie” will transform a room of this cultural center into a relaxed and green area where you will be able to relax in a deckchair, read a book from the ephemeral library and enjoy the concerts and other events organized.
The batofar, a barge famous for its parties and taste for electronic music, opens its terrace and organizes wonderful afterworks, where one can enjoy a drink and some tapas while listening to some nice music – all this under the sun, and by the river, of course!
The Quai Branly museum’s garden opens every Thursday, Friday and Saturday and offers different activities: you can enjoy electronic DJ sets, activities fir kids, or just the possibility to read a book in the quiet of this wonderful garden!
The beach is never far

Deckchairs are at your disposal, a food truck and a covered terrace are completing the picture. Concerning music, the programing will be eclectic and favor developing groups and discoveries.
The now famous “Paris Plage” will be open from July 19th until August 17th and will bring sand to the quais de Seine, offering a place where to chill and enjoy the summer sun. But there is more! Different events are organized: balls, taï-chi courses, beach volley… check all the details here!
Paris never stops to be explored, not even in August

Paris is full of green places that still wait for you!
The wonderful garden of the “musée de la vie romantique” is a haven of peace. The museum is situated in an area which used to gather major artists of the romantic artistic movement. Weather you visit the museum or not, you can also just stop by and enjoy fresh lemonade in the garden: and we promise you will feel like you are not in Paris anymore!
Leave the road and have a walk in the “balade plantée”, a linear garden crossing the 12th district on 4.5km. It is situated on a previous railway and goes from Bastille until the Bois de Vincennes.
Discover the “recyclerie” which recently opened in the former Ornano Station, a green structure offering different events and workshops.
