On Monday 28th November ÉCU The European Independent Film Festival, Paris’s premier showcase for independently financed shorts and features, will attempt to write – and produce – a short film entirely made up of contributions crowd sourced via the Twitter social network.

With an opening scene setter provided by the festival, it is then up to their followers to provide all successive dialogue and actions, creating new scenes, introducing other characters, building up the tension, and finally bringing it to a close.

At the end of each week, the best suggestions will be collated and posted to the Festival website and Tumblr blog, with a link on our twitter feed so our contributors can see what they are creating.

Once a satisfying screenplay has been pulled together, the next stage begins.

Festival organisers will then be looking for volunteers to join the ÉCU staff in creating the film of the script – so before you write that extended torture scene, just remember, you could end up playing the victim!

The plan is to write, shoot and print the film in time to screen it at next year’s festival, which will be taking place in Paris from March 30th to April 1st, 2012.
