As we are based in Paris our love for films and fashion is obvious. But moving further from Paris, we are turning our heads to Lithuania and are happy to introduce you Lina Plioplyte whose first film of aged New York fashionistas has recently been released in the UK and Irish cinemas.
Lina Plioplyte, a 27 years old Lithuanian filmmaker and videographer studied journalism in Lithuania and in the USA. After getting a job in Nylon magazine in New York City she discovered that her real passion is not writing but filmmaking. While working part time at a café in the city she met Ari Seth Cohen, photographer and Advanced Style blog creator. Soon not only a beautiful friendship started but also plans for a mutual project – “Advanced Style” film.
Having her first feature-length documentary released recently, Lina started her filmmaking career by creating music videos as well as short films for such names like Urban Outfitters, Nowness, Pamela Love, 30 Seconds to Mars, and Pierre Balmain. In most of her projects she takes several roles and works as a director, cameraman and even a scriptwriter. However she reveals, that the role she feels the best fit in is working as a cameraman. And this is exactly what she is planning to do in her future career.
“Advanced Style” film idea was born from series of short videos featuring New York aged fashionistas. Lina was fascinated by her friend Ari Seth Cohen pictures and started capturing those women on short videos. Soon more and more people found out about Advanced Style blog and 4 years ago, shortly after Advanced Style book was published, Lina started her documentary.
