If you prefer culture and nature then the Château de Fontainebleau is the perfect choice for you. Already Napoleon considered it as a true home which was worth accommodating kings! This beautiful castle, situated very close to Paris, is one of the largest royal castles in France. Its different styles are a reflection of the many kings that lived there through the ages.

Moreover, if it’s a sunny day, you absolutely have to visit the huge gardens around the castle. Also don’t forget to take a walk in the wide Fontainebleau forest around the castle!

Where: Fontainebleau

How to get there:

  • By train: from the Gare de Lyon, take the train for either Montargis Sens, Montereau or Laroche-Migennes, and get off at the station Fontainebleau-Avon, then take the ‘Ligne A’ bus with the destination Les Lilas, and get off at the stop ‘Château’;
  • You can also take the Paris/Vaux-le-Vicomte/Fontainebleau Shuttle Service: Parivision runs a regular shuttle service between Fontainebleau and Paris, departing from 214 rue de Rivoli.

  • The castle is open every day from 9:30am to 6pm, except Tuesdays;
  • The courtyards and the gardens are open every day from 9am to 7pm.

1336655891_rock_en_seine_parisOne of the greatest things about Paris is that it offers you a lot of cultural events! For example, from the 23rd to the 25th of August, let’s enjoy some rock music at “Rock en Seine”! The festival, which started in 2003, offers you the chance to listen to rock music performed by great singers and bands. One of this year’s performers is the group ‘Eels’ whose music was played in the film “Girl Shape Love Drug”, the winner of Best European Independent Dramatic Feature at ÉCU 2013.

Where: Saint Cloud Park, just outside Paris

Price: 49€ – 109€

You don’t necessarily enjoy rock music and you rather prefer classical music?

If so, then you should go to Park Floral and visit the event “Classique au Vert”. Every weekend from August to September, you can listen to classical music played by world-class musicians.

Where: Parc Floral (Bois de Vincennes), métro line 1 (Château de Vincennes).

When: Saturdays and Sundays

Price: free

P1040856_Paris_XVIII_rue_des_Abbesses_rwkAfter visiting all these places, walking around the city and discovering Paris you must get hungry, right? Our suggestion – definitely eat outside and enjoy the summer breeze!

Around Rue des Abbesses, Montmartre and in the Marais, especially  around Place de Vosges, it is easy to find plenty restaurants, bistros and brasseries where you can taste real French food!

However, you don’t necessarily have to go to a restaurant to eat! You can also meet up for a nice picnic in one of the many beautiful parks in Paris or for example along the Canal St. Martin!

So have fun and enjoy Paris!
