HAIKU is one of the European Experimental Films submitted to ÉCU 2021, by director Martin Gerigk.
SYNOPSIS: “Haiku | 俳句” is a symphonic audiovisual project for two Japanese performers, alternating percussion groups, soundscapes and rhythmicized video sequences. The film is an experimental approach to pay tribute to the extraordinary art of Japanese haiku poetry.

UNLOCKING THE DOORS OF CINEMA is one of films submitted to ÉCU 2021 for the Arab Special Selection, by director Nezar Andary.
SYNOPSIS: A feature documentary exploring the amazing 50-years career of the daring Syrian auteur Muhammed Malas. From the 1967 War and the Palestinian camps in Beirut, to the political tragedies of Syria, Malas’ works contemplate the meaning of loss, memory, and home.
YOUNG, FRAGILE is one of the Student Films submitted to ÉCU 2021, by German director Joscha Bongard.
SYNOPSIS: At times of changing gender roles, a tinder date encourages young Leonid to live his own definition of “masculinity”. A current reflection on love, sexuality and role models.
IF WE SMARTEN UP is one of the European Dramatic Short submitted to ÉCU 2021, by director Larisa Faber.
SYNOPSIS: After the sale of the family flat, live-in maid Maria finds herself homeless and stranded. Making the most of a desperate situation, she decides to declare the broom cupboard, located on the same floor as her former flat, her new home. Her neighbours however are everything but pleased by this solution. They start to see the elderly maid as an intrusion into their lives, devaluing their properties, stealing their doormats, and can’t help but wonder how they could get rid of her.
Aves – GEM OF THE OCEAN is a European Music Video submitted to ÉCU 2021, by director Harun Güler.
SYNOPSIS: Moody and intimate visuals pair perfectly with the haunting vocals of Icelandic artist JDFR to create an unnerving and captivating music video. Following the destructive relationship of two young partygoers, it is about how darkness and light actually coexist in every situation.

59 DAYS is one of the European Animated Films submitted to ÉCU 2021, by Greek director Zina Papadopoulou.

SUBMISSION is one of the European Dramatic Features submitted to ÉCU 2021, by Portuguese director Leonardo Antonio.
SYNOPSIS: Lucia is raped by her husband and presses charges against him. While fighting the Portuguese legal system to get her husband in court, she finds out she is pregnant. The case takes place in closed session wherein Lucia represents the woman in a man’s world.
THE LOST PEN is one of the European Dramatic Shorts submitted to ÉCU 2021, by Turkish director Beraat Gokkus.
SYNOPSIS: Karam is a Syrian poet and journalist who is in exile in France. He is living at the Maison des Journalistes, an association that hosts exiled journalists around the world in Paris. One day Karam loses a pen, that was a gift from his mother who lost her life during the Syrian civil war. Without this pen, Karam cannot write his poems.
CLOSE is one of the Student Films submitted to ÉCU 2021, by the Canadian-British duo of filmmakers Emily Bowell and Thomas Attwood.

SYNOPSIS: In a heavily polluted world, a young woman mourns the disappearance of animal species. When she falls ill due to a bacterial infection, nature appears to send her a message in her hallucinations.
