We selected the best 80 films that demonstrated quality, innovation and creativity. In addition, we chose the best scriptwriters for our Much More Then A Script Competition among many talented promises.

Alberto Nacci
Born in 1957 at Trapani (Italy), lives and works in Bergamo since 1982. Former professor of Sound Design at Academies of Fine Arts in Bergamo and Brescia, after a long career musician with numerous musical productions and a rich concert activity, he dedicated himself to the production of art and culture documentaries, industrial films and video art works received numerous international awards. His works are appreciated in Italy and abroad and selected some of the most important festivals of film and video art in Europe, USA, Asia. He participated, representing Italy, to EURONIGHT08, an international video art proposed by the Italian Institute of Culture in Toronto. Since 1996 is the holder of ajpstudios (sound & vision), specializing in the production of industrial films, arts and culture documentaries, videoart works.

Antonis Glaros
Born in Toronto, Canada. Lives and works in Athens. Head of the Technical Seminar during the last 12 years, on film shooting, the use of the film camera, developing and editing films in 8mm and 16mm format at the POFPA film laboratories of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Currently following the MA postgraduate program “Video Production , Audio means and Animation Graphics” of the University of West Attica; “Chandelier” is his final MA thesis.

Aurélien Mathieu
Aurélien Mathieu (Annecy, 1988) is a French film director, screenwriter and photographer. He studied at the ESRA Film School in Paris. He directed his first short film “The Human facteur” at 19. He got into an apprenticeship at EuropaCorp TV where he focused alongside Kyan Khojandi on fiction. Thinking of the director as a conductor, he obtained his degree and proceeded to work as much as possible trying out different positions on film sets as a way to really understand every aspect of the Movie Industry. At 24 he founded his own production company with 3 associates and directed several advertisements, music videos and corporate films. He developed photographic stage plays with Lego toys under the pseudonym Shobrick and promoted the latest Lego video game “Star Wars” for Warner Bros. He wrote a book published by Glénat. In 2018 he directed a short film which was a finalist at the Nikon Film Festival. He is now working in post-production for a short film and is also writing his first feature.

Carlos Haidamous
Carlos Mounir Haidamous, a rising Lebanese director, was born in the village of Aabadiyeh in 1995. Haidamous has a degree in audiovisual studies from Al Kafa’at University. His love for cameras, pictures, and directing motivated him to excel in Drone Cinematography which he filmed various programs and short documentaries that won several awards specially in France, Germany, Britain, Spain, Amsterdam, Poland, and the US. Haidamous’s goal is to show the true essence and beauty behind Lebanon through his lense. Ruya, vision in Arabic, is Haidamous’s first film which he wrote and directed. Through Ruya, he personified a true scene from daily life mixed with vision, dreams, and reality.

Charlie Reader
Charlie Reader is a London-based director with a background in narrative music videos and commercial content. He graduated in Film and television at Bournemouth University in 2012, with his graduation Film “Lantern”. That year he won the award for Best Music Video at Screentest Film Festival for “Famous”. Having been featured in Promo News’ list of Top Directors of 2014, Reader continued working in music videos, collaborating with several established names including Dan Croll and SG Lewis. Developing his taste for narrative, he put his storytelling skills to paper, teaming up with fellow Bournemouth alumni and award-winning screenwriter Peter Fellows (The Death of Stalin). The two began to develop the script for “Everything You Didn’t Say”. Meanwhile, Reader was working with commercial clients such as Vodafone and Canon, and began to develop a relationship with the creative production company COMPULSORY. “Everything You Didn’t Say” is Charlie Reader’s debut narrative short film.

Elena Brodach
Elena Brodach is an award-winning filmmaker. She was born in Moscow, Russia. Studied in Moscow Architectural Academy and graduated from it in 2006 as an architect of residential and public buildings. But Elena did not stay very long in architecture, she worked in the independent media as a producer and journalist at the years when the protest movement was re-activated in Russia and things were happening very fast, such as arrests and detentions. She filmed things happening in the streets and it went online. Then she studied in Higher Courses for Scriptrwriters and Film Directors in Moscow in a workshop of famous Russian director Vladimir Khotinenko. Her first short film «Silence», based on her grandparent’s love story, has won many awards all over the world, film «Next» was official selected by Toronto International Film Festival and won many other festivals.

Giacomo Boeri
Giacomo graduated in Media and Marketing in 2008, before studying at the New York Film Academy. In 2009 he completed his studies at the London Film School and he shot “Antenna” in collaboration with the National Gallery and the short film “Big Ben”, that won the “My Movies” contest. In 2011 he graduated with the film “Blu Tie”. In 2012 he founded his production house: The Blink Fish where he works as a writer and director. He directed several brand commercials such as: Prada, Hermes, Audi, Colmar, Panorama, CNMI, Valentino. In 2014 he co-directed the documentary “Il Salotto dei Milanesi”, and the documentary “512 Hours”. In 2015 he co-directed the documentary “The Flying Gardeners” and the short film “Agata”, both presented and awarded in several festivals. In 2016 he won the best fashion film award at the Berlin Fashion Film Festival with “Waiting Room” and signed several campaigns such as: Sammontana, Ferrero, Aspesi, Sky, BMW, Bulgari, Ferrari, Natuzzi.

Hiro Kano
Hiro Kano is a film and commercial director, screenwriter for NICE RAINBOW. Studying under Katsuhito Ishii and many other directors, has participated in more than 500 projects until now. In 2014, he received an award at the Yokohama Film Festival for his project “VIBRA“. In 2015, he was the assistant director for the 50th anniversary edition film of “GAMERA” After that, he directed his first full-length film entitled “That Disappearance.” In commercials, his internet films for SEIYU, “HANDMADE HOMETOWN“ has received many awards and international recognition, and is quickly becoming a popular director.

Lance Heybrock
Lance Heybrock is independent filmmaker based in Los Angeles, CA. He graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2010 with a B.F.A focused in experimental animation. Lance has worked in various capacities within film and television production – the majority of which have been art department related. He now works as a freelance union prop maker for various network television series. Lance strives, in his filmmaking, to combine the visual storytelling skills acquired in his undergrad studies along with the attention to technique and craftsmanship he’s learned from working as a professional prop maker.

Liat Ekta was born on November 4, 1970 in Eilat, Israel. She is an actress and producer, known for Pere Atzil (2018), Sof Hamis’chak (1996) and Miral (2010). She was nominated for “Best Lead Actress” in the Israeli academy of film 2018. Akta is an actress in the Israeli national theatre “Habima”. She is the author of the book “Flying in Time” (2016). “The Mouse” is her first film as writer and director.

Luigi Abanto Varese
Luigi Abanto Varese began his visual career with documentary photography. His projects like Instantes, Dependents Lives, Sharing spaces and The Storm has finished were awarded in differents photography festivals. Likewise his audiovisuals works like Ayahuasca and Introprojection have attendet in festivals such as Docfield Barcelona and Incubarte Festival in Valencia respectively. In 2011 he starts his film studies in El Plato de Cinema. His short film of first course Being an Angel, dedicated to the celebrated photographer Francesca Woodman and that was projected in Macba Barcelona and several international festivals was awarded in ECU Independent Film Festival in Paris.

Viktoria Szemeredy
Viktoria is a film director, writer, psychotherapist and intensive care doctor. In reverse chronological order. Her past professions helped her develop a diagnostic capability that penetrates the surface, and an understanding of deep human emotions. Viktoria’s films question axioms and dogmas with which we live, generating a connection with the audience not necessarily only at an intellectual, but at a subconscious level as well. Built on her previous two degrees, Viktoria is completing her MA in scriptwriting and directing at the Staffordshire University in February 2019.

Martijn Hullegie
Martijn grew up in a Dutch 1970’s utopia: the progressive provincial town of Nijmegen, among pioneers in search of self-development, free love and alternative parenting. Before settling on his career as a film maker, Martijn studied history, law, geography, theatre studies and film direction, the latter at the national Film Academy in the Netherlands. Martijn Hullegie is creator/director of several commercially successful children’s programs, from the classic Sesame Street to The Sandcastle, Woozle & Pip and Het Klokhuis. His short films for adults have won various prizes at international film festivals. His directing is driven by a passion for acting as the best method to explore characters and motives. Hullegie enrolled in a three-year Meisner acting program, not to become an actor himself but to expand his personal knowledge and understanding of the process that actors go through when they perform their craft.

Riccardo Salvetti, 32, movie director and film maker. He graduated in film production at Civica Scuola di Cinema “Luchino Visconti” for Film, Television and New Media in Milan. He loves video-portraying stories about social issues, with a narration that sometimes captures surreal and dreamy tones. His main works: the documentary film “Gabani due volte campione” and the short movie “Closed Box”, winner of many international awards. In his spare time, he adores reading manga and exploring unpaved trails on his mountain bike. “Rwanda” is his first feature long-length film.

Rolv Lyssand Bjørø
Rolv Lyssand Bjørø (1985) is a Norwegian director, editor and screenwriter. He has made numerous award winning shorts and documentaries that have been screened internationally. Bjørø wrote and directed the highly acclaimed short film “Another World” in 2018. In September 2018 he got selected as a finalist in” Studiofest-Phoenicia New York” as the only director from. Europe. Another world has also since its realise in late June 2018 won awards at “Bergen International film festival”(Norway) “Queen palm international Film Festival (Palm springs) Indiefest International Filmfestival (San Diego California) The fresh modern Fantasy/ Adventure /thriller pushes the boundaries of the otherwise “nordic noir” heavy Scandinavian cinema.

Dianne Lucille Campbell is a Belfast based filmmaker and award winning film, games, TV composer and sound & performance Artist creating under the moniker DIE HEXEN. Their work delves into the subconscious realms of life, death, the afterlife, vivid dreams, celestial mysticism, the spiritual and supernatural and has screened internationally in film festivals such as Edinburgh International Film Festival, Underwire Festival (Winning nominations for last 3 years for Best Score and Sound), Cork Film Festival (Stigma score & sound design by Die Hexen Winning Academy qualifying Grand Prix Irish Short 2018), Aesthetica, London Short Film Festival, Irish Film Festival London, Discover Film London, Inverness Film Festival, Belfast Film Festival, Cucalorus, St Louis International Film Festival, Citizen Jane Festival Colombia Missouri, Third Eye Festival New York and now the European Independent Film Festival 2019.

Tara Shehata is an Egyptian film director who has attained a Bachelor’s degree in Film and Television studies from The University of Warwick in 2016. Strongly passionate about Cinema and the art of storytelling, she then went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Directing from Met Film School, London, which she has graduated from in 2018. Her latest film, The Shadow of Cairo, which was made during her studies, has been shortlisted in the Creative Excellence category at the third annual Smart Screen Creative Awards 2018, Met Film School, London, and has been selected at the Academy-qualifying New York International Children’s Film Festival, 2019.

Tom is a writer and director based in London. After graduating with a BA in Communications (University of Technology, Sydney) he worked first in television then as a senior Visual Effects Artist on films including Harry Potter, Poseidon, Danny Boyle’s Sunshine and Tim Burton’s Sweeney Todd. His foray into directing and writing was a short film entitled Sometimes the Moon is Velvet. This won First Prize Best Short Film at Rhode Island International Film Festival. Tom is currently developing his first feature film, The Girl with Glass Feet, based on the book by Ali Shaw.

Constantin Maier, born 1991, is a screenwriter and director from Germany. His films won awards at festivals across the world, they received state funding from Nordmedia and one short film of his was aired nationwide on NDR (Northern German Broadcasting). In addition to that, Constantin works in editing and visual effects, among other things having served as the visual effects lead artist as well as an artist for Oscar-winning and Oscar-nominated directors.
