Here at ÉCU, we have been busying ourselves in a flurry of lively and eventful preparations for the forthcoming annual edition of the festival, kicking off in less that two months’ time – on 21-23 April at cinéma les 7 Parnassiens in the French capital!
ÉCU 2017 will offer a jam-packed program of unique and innovative film screenings from around the world, an informative and perspicuous series of professional workshops – for scriptwriting, editing and directing – our highly popular ‘Meet-the-Directors’ discussions, as well as roaring live music sets. Similarly, the final deadline is swiftly approaching for our Much More Than a Script Competition, an exciting opportunity for both new and seasoned writers to gain recognition for their innovative stories. There is still time to submit your work before 19th March, so for more information about the competition and to submit on the ÉCU website via Withoutabox, click here.
This month has been an especially thrilling time for us as we are delighted to announce a series of partnerships that we have formed with a diverse range of companies and festivals, internationally. The first of which, the Academy of Film Writing, is a superb online school founded by author and award-winning screenwriter Max Adams who created the initiative in order to promote excellence in film writing.
We are also pleased to partner up with England-based Manchester Film Festival, one of the UK’s most popular festivals that remains staunchly committed to showcasing truly independent and innovative productions. Films will be screened from 2 – 5 March at the city’s Odeon Printworks and tickets are available now – to find out more, click on this link: https://www.maniff.com/
Additionally, we have linked up with a unique partner, SellAScript.com, an organization that offers a variety of services to writers, including screenwriting feedback and development advice, as well as Zacuto, the inventors of production grade filmmaking camera accessories – created by filmmakers for filmmakers!
Finally, as part of ÉCU-ON-THE-ROAD, we have had the wonderful opportunity to attend the European Film Market at Berlinale 2017 from the 9th – 12th February, where we networked with fellow industry personnel, a range of directors, producers, screenwriters, actors and regular cinema-lovers!
