ÉCU is proud to present #SheShoots, a panel composed of the female film directors in competition at ÉCU 2017. #SheShoots will take place at 11am at Cinéma Le Lincoln on Saturday, April 22nd.

It marks almost 100 years since Alice-Guy Blache, revered as the first female film director, wrapped up the last of her 400 films in 1920. This is an exceptional year because not only does 2017 mark the 12th edition of ÉCU, but we also have the privilege of showcasing films from a record number of 29 independent female filmmakers. Come join us and celebrate the achievement of women in independent cinema.

Our aim is to give women filmmakers a dedicated space and time to share opinions, comments and feelings regarding the independent film industry, as well as the film world in general. You will have the chance to ask questions and engage in discussion with ÉCU 2017’s nominated women filmmakers. We want to open up a space for us to push boundaries, discuss stereotypes, and most of all to learn about each other’s journeys. We will discuss career paths, hardships, achievements, and what still needs to happen to involve more women in the cinema industry globally.

Tickets are of course FREE for this event, but be sure to click here to register your attendance:
